A very late Post

So I really haven’t been very good at blogging lately. But I’ll try and fix that. We just don’t have internet at our house, so I have to either write it at home and post it at work. Or post from my in laws place where I have access to the internet.

So here is our update of the past few months.

Middle of April Erik and I were lucky enough to head out of his brother’s house and move into our own apartment. It’s a little one bed room place, but it’s ours. We’ve really enjoyed it. Lola gets stir crazy sometimes when she can’t just run up and down the stairs like she did at Scott’s place. But we’re close enough to Erik’s parent’s house that we’ll go let her run there as much as we can so that way when she comes home she just sleeps!

First of May Erik was laid off of the new construction at the airport. I haven’t really minded him being home as much has he has been, The dishes get done, the laundry gets finished after I start it. We were able to go to St. George in May with my parents to celebrate their 29th Wedding anniversary. It was a nice relaxing weekend. One that I was in need of after all my work at the store. At that time was a Relief Lead over the sales Floor. And I really enjoyed it.

The rest of May went by without much else going on. It was just on going work work work. Which sometimes isn’t that bad.

My mom’s birthday is the first part of June and I had that day off and the next day as well. So the night before as I was thinking about my mom and Highland, I was pretty home sick. So during my break I hurried and called Erik and asked if we could run home for a few days. He had a Doctor’s appointment that morning, and my mom wanted an update on how that was going. So like the good daughter I am, I called her afterword and told a little white lie that we weren’t doing much for the rest of my days off. (he he) Off we went, Lola was packed in the car and we started out. We threw everyone for a loop when we pulled into the driveway. Dad thought mom knew we were coming, and Mom thought Dad knew we were coming. We pulled it off pretty well. We were able to stay for a few days and just enjoyed the cool clean air. And Lola had a blast playing fetch with her grandpa. He sure does spoil her, and she doesn’t mind one bit.

June flew by and pretty soon it was our one year Wedding Anniversary. I can’t believe how fast that year has flown by. I was able to take a few days off and we enjoyed the time together. We ran away from the heat for a day and went up to Mt Charleston, we went for a hike and enjoyed a picnic in the fresh COOL mountain air!

Lola also celebrated her 1 year birthday the end of June. My puppy is growing up and getting so big.

Her dad spoils her so much and got her a peanut butter flavored birthday cake for her. She was so excited she ran it over to her kennel and sat there and slowly licked off all the frosting. Talk about a kid getting frosting! It was EVERYWHERE! She had frosting all over her, her blankets, her kennel, and the carpet. Frosting covered us all. So that night became bath night for everyone and everything.

July started before we knew it. Then I turned 23 and I can’t believe I’m that old! We enjoyed a quite birthday party with the family. Being able to Celebrate 3 birthday’s in one week is pretty fun stuff.

The end of July was a great time to go meet up with the Hjorth’s at the family ranch just on the other side of Cedar Mountain. Lola was the center of attention as all my `cousins’ just loved playing fetch with her. I don’t think she has ever slept so go as she did the night in the tent. She never moved! And I was so glad.

Just before we left for the Ranch, I was given the opportunity to advance at work and am now the Full time Sales Lead over the Sales Floor. It’s the same thing I was doing before, but now I do it full time, whereas before I only would be the lead when a manager or another Lead was on vacation. I am so honored to be given the chance to prove how loyal and hardworking I can be. This month is half way over and I can’t believe that the summer is coming to an end. Schools are starting again, the store is slowing down. Erik is enjoying his summer vacation from Apprentice Class. He took his final just as we got home from Camping. And was blessed enough to score a 95 percent in his second year. So he’s now on break from school and will start his third year classes in January. Until then, he’s just welding to get caught up on his Certs so that as soon as work starts to pick back up around Las Vegas, he’ll be qualified to take anything he can get.

I think that’s all the updates so far from the Wilkins’ household. We’re just living life as well as we can, dealing with everyday struggles, and thanking the Lord every day for the blessing he’s put in our lives.

Off to the Park We GOOO!

So Lola and I went to the Park again today! It’s been so nice this week! In the 70’s is PERFECT! She had so much fun! She even met a new friend named Zinger who is a Jack Russell Terrier. They had a lot of fun playing! So now she’s asleep on the sun and I’m trying to get my list done that I have to do today, since it’s my only day off this week Yet again. I’m kinda getting used to working 6 days a week! I dunno what it feels like to only work 5 days we’ll see.

Erik and I are planning a Picnic tonight! I can’t wait! He’s retaking a soldering test to get his Certs on that, so he should be off early and then we’re heading out! I have everything ready and waiting--- can you tell I’m excited!?

Livin' the CRAZY life!

I really truly am alive I promise! Life has been so crazy the last few weeks. My work had inventory, so I worked 7 days straight trying to get ready for and handle inventory. All went well with that and it’s over! YAY! At least for another 6 months.

Erik got called into the Young Men’s again, as the Priest quorum advisor. It’s the same calling that he had before we got married. He loves spending time with the boys and trying to help them out! Apparently I was to have a calling too I just work every Sunday now, so a calling is out of the question as long as I’m training.

I love my new position, I’m still training so I don’t know everything yet, but So far it’s awesome! I have had great managers training me too! That is always the best part.

Erik and I are having such a great time just loving life! We’re trying to find a new hobby that is something that we can both do together to help strengthen our marriage. Something that’s just us, no family talk, no work talk, just us! We think we might have found something, stay tuned to see what it is, if it happens.

That’s about it from us! I just can’t believe how blessed we are, for our awesome families we both come from, and for our Heavenly Father who has his hand in all things. We know that what we have and who we are is because of Him and His plan for us! We love you all!

Here is what we’re doing;

working like crazy! I just got a permanent position at Coca-Cola and so now I’ll be there a lot more, I’ve very grateful for the position, I’m UBER excited!

Playing with lola! Since Lolas surgery earlier this month, we have been really careful to make sure she,s ok. There was no need to worry! Before she even had her stitches out, she was running around like her crazy self. So now stitches are out, and Erik and I don,t have to worry so much. We really do enjoy having her little personality around. We really don,t know what we,d do with out her.Shes been such a good puppy, she has made poor choices like chewing up ALL of my church shoes, but she,s still a puppy and I have to remember that!

House hunting! Erik and I decided that it’s about time to move on and get our own place, so with that, we starting meeting with Erik’s moms best friend, Esther, who is a real estate agent. We aren’t sure that a house is what we want right now, it’s a lot of upkeep and right now, time is something we don’t have. So instead we’re looking at Townhomes. Condo’s where on our list but now that we’ve seen some of both, Townhomes are what we really feel like fits us the best. So we found a really great unit that we both just fell in love with, it was the right price and right location and right size. So we put an offer in, and didn’t get it Bummer! . . . So now we’re starting again, looking for something we like! So stay tuned, we might be MOVING!

Getting to know our Vet!

Last Sunday, Lola ran up and jump up on me, not surprising huh? and I noticed that what we thought was just a red spot, had now grown to about the size of a nickle and was semi hard... So Monday morning, I set off to pay a visit to the vet... I didn't know that I would have to make a tough decision on my own with out my other half!

The vet said that our little baby had a Tumor! A TUMOR! She's 7 months old! He's pretty sure it's benign but we're still waiting for the lab results to come back. He said we needed to remove it immediately... here's the tough part, she also needed to be fixed and have her genetic hernia fixed as well... So do I go ahead and let him cut up my baby that much in one day, or just get the tumor removed? So I thought of what Erik would want, and 5 hours later we picked up our little baby!

This Picture is not for the weak stomach people!

After her surgery with her battle wounds... Three incision!

She has to wear the cone of shame until Thursday when I can get her back in for the stitches to come out.

We're so grateful for our family that has put up with us and our crazy obsession with our puppy! Also a shout out to Scott for looking after her when Erik and I were at work!

Hopefully I'll have good news to report later in the week! :)

Oh the joys of Church!

Erik and I got the great privilege to speak in Church today... Such fun!

It was great that we got to have the opportunity to share our testimonies. Erik's talk was out of the January Ensign, a talk by Jeffery R. Holland, "The Best is Yet to Come". It is about not dwelling on the past and to move upward and forward in life. It's good to learn from your past mistakes, but that wanting to go back into your past when life was "better" isn't what we need to focus on. He made a great analogy about the progression through the temple. How we start at ground level when we enter the Lord's House, and as we go to the various area's, we always are moving upward, until we reach our highest potential!

Here is the link to Elder Holland's talk. http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?hideNav=1&locale=0&sourceId=9b0047a27a2b5210VgnVCM100000176f620a____&vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD
He did AMAZING but of course I'm not bias at all!

My talk was also out of the same Ensign. It was called Making Mountains, the Parables of the Mountain and the Mountain Guide. It is a story about a mountain guide in Taiwan and how when he starts his hikes he asks his visitors what they want to see, the answer is usually that they want to get to the top of the mountain and they want to get there the quickest way possible. They tour guide tries to teach his visitors that what is on top of the mountain was once the base. You can appreciate the beauty of the mountain becomes more majestic after you've seen where it comes from. It is a great knowledge to have that we all need to start at the bottom, and move to the top, growing closer to the Lord is hard to do, there are many trials that we need to have in order to learn and grow.

I recommend all that actually read our blog to check out these two different stories.

We both are grateful to share our testimonies. We are so grateful for the opportunities we have to grow and learn together as Husband and Wife.
